Abstract

Today studies on tamil language and literature are being carried out on the basis of various research methods. The comparative research method is one of the most important method and it is a scientific approach used to compare literature in two or more languages and to classify their common features and specialties. in the early days , researchers engaged in comparative studies have put forward some ideas about the rules on how comparative studies could be based on their own experiences which were then accepted by everyone as a theory of comparative research. parallel theory is one of such theory is compare two or more literatures on the basis of their narrative, language, techniques, story background and to identify their general and special characteristics. that way the purpose of this article is to compare S. kadhigamanadhan’s “verum sotrukke vandhadhu” (short story) and Johanna spyri’s “Heidy” (Novel) translation of P.B. Sivasubramaniyam. This article is based on an analytical and comparative research methodologies with Heidy Novel and Verum sotrukke vandhadhu short story as a primary data.
